My name is Bert Boxem and I work as project manager sales and technology at Mekes Graphic Machinery. I am 48 years old and married to Marije. Together we have 2 sons of the age 19 and 17. I was born in the north of the Netherlands (Westernieland) which is a very smal village in the province of Groningen.
In my spare time i like to walk with our dog Layka or go look for some challenges in the mountains with my race bike.
What did you do before working at Mekes Graphic Machinery and why did you decide to go work here?
From my youth I have already workedd at Drukkerij de Marne. From 1993 I was employed there until 2018, I worked there for 25 years. Then I went to the center of the country for a new challenge near Zwolle, Schuttersmagazijn (Hasselt). Where I have encountered many challenges in these years, from corona, fire and unfortunately bankruptcy.
But because of that I have now been able to get a very nice challenge at Mekes in Roosendaal below in the Netherlands. This way you go from the high North to the beautiful South of the Netherlands.
What is your position at Mekes?
I will start at Mekes as Project Manager Sales and Technology. I will support the team in projects of buying and selling the machines to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.
How was your first week?
It was a very innervating work week. I was very well received and guided by my new colleagues. During the holidays it is a bit quieter so it is a good time to start and get familiarized with the company.
