About Nicole de Crook

Contact details

My name is Nicole de Crook. I enjoy spending my time outdoors, often together with my Golden Retriever. Long walks through nature help me relax and recharge after a busy workday. I also love reading and have a broad taste in books. One day I might be reading a detective novel by Stieg Larsson, while another day I’m immersed in the historical and cultural stories of Isabel Allende. I have always been interested in people, cultures and the history behind different countries, which is something that still fascinates me today.

Nicole De Crook - Mekes Graphic Machinery

What is your position at Mekes?

At Mekes I am responsible for coordinating many of the practical and operational activities that keep our projects running smoothly. My daily work includes planning our technicians, arranging materials and spare parts, and maintaining contact with customers around the world. I enjoy making sure everything is in place and runs according to plan, like organizing a shipment of parts, supporting a technician on-site or helping a customer find the right solution.

When and why have you started working for Mekes?

I joined Mekes in 1996, so I have been part of the company for quite a long time. At the time, I never imagined that I would build a career in the graphic industry. It was not something I had specifically planned, but sometimes opportunities simply come your way.

What immediately appealed to me about Mekes was the atmosphere within the company. From the very beginning, it felt like a close-knit family business where people know each other and work together as a team. I liked the idea of working in an environment that is personal rather than anonymous, where colleagues are committed to the company and to each other. That sense of loyalty and teamwork is something that has always stood out to me and is still one of the reasons I enjoy working at Mekes today.

Over the years I have seen the company grow and develop, while still keeping that personal and committed culture. That is one of the reasons why I have enjoyed working at Mekes for so many years.

What makes your job so much fun?

The variety is what I enjoy most. No two days are ever the same. One moment I am organizing spare parts for a machine installation, the next I am coordinating schedules with technicians or helping a customer solve an urgent issue.

I also really enjoy the international aspect of the business. We regularly welcome visitors from different countries to our office, and it is always interesting to hear their stories and learn more about their way of doing business. That combination of organization, customer contact and international cooperation keeps the work challenging and enjoyable.

What is the greatest success you have had at Mekes?

For me, success is not necessarily one single project or transaction. The greatest satisfaction comes from seeing everything come together successfully. When technicians arrive at the right place, the required materials and parts are available, the customer is informed and satisfied, and the project is completed as planned, I know we have done our job well.
