In the late 1960s, my father switched the business from letterpress to offset, which meant buying 2 offset machines and having about 40 letterpress machines left.
To sell the surplus of these letterpresses, our family visited printers in the Netherlands and Belgium during the weekends. This meant that my father, Theo Mekes, was in charge of Koninklijke Van Poll from monday to friday and in the weekends he set up a trade in used machines. This trade in used machines was always on behalf and for the company Koninklijke van Poll. My father kept this up for many years. In the photo you can see a board with different letters that were used in a letterpress machine at the time.
My name, Ronald, is incorporated in the board.
